Root Canal treatment-for cavities that have invaded the nerve of the tooth already (when you have a really bad toothache, it is likely that you may need root canal therapy, or have the tooth removed (extracted). At that point your dentist will ensure that your treatment is as painless as possible using standard sedation procedures.
  White fillings-are composite resins, that can really endure the force that chewing puts on the teeth. They are far more esthetic and safer than the silver fillings.
Partial dentures–are recommended for people who have several missing teeth in the back of the mouth, where a dental bridge cannot be fabricated. It is a cheaper option than the dental bridge. The dentures need to be removed at night for hygienic reasons.
Dental bridge-consists of porcelain crowns that cover two or more supporting teeth with the false teeth (made of porcelain as well) in between them. They are fused together and must be cemented on the supporting teeth as a permanent restoration. Dental implants-are used to replace one or several missing teeth. This is the best and most ideal way to replace missing teeth. Dentures can only mimic 30% of the teeth's natural chewing power. The bridge can do 60%, with the compromise of the supporting teeth being trimmed down, allowing room for the crowns to cover them. Dental implants can mimic up to 90% of the teeth’s natural chewing power! Sedation DentistrySedation dentistry is a popular dental procedure in Calgary and for most dental patients. There are three levels of sedation that we practice in our Calgary dental office: Nitrous Oxide: (laughing gas) Takes the edge off anxiety without lingering effects – once the gas is turned off, the effect is gone shortly after. Very little sedation required and minimal side effects. Oral Sedation: (taking pills) More profound than the nitrous oxide, with lingering effects and slow onset (taking longer to feel its effect). Patients sometimes experience a bit of amnesia at the drug’s peak level. There are more side effects with this type of sedation. IV Sedation: (injection into the vein) Very profound effect with quick onset and lingering effects as well. Patients normally would not be able to remember much of the procedure after the drug kicks in. There are many side effects with this type of sedation.
